Focalyx Dx

A new philosophy in the diagnosis by prostate cancer image

Multi parametric magnetic resonance FOCALYX® Dx is a diagnostic method for prostate cancer that can prevent biopsy in selected cases. This is a great advantage, since resonance is a less invasive procedure for the patient.

Meet FOCALYX® Dx

The best method of early detection

Our specialists at the Lyx Urology center in Madrid, will explain, during the consultation, what magnetic resonance consists of and why it requires different phases: dynamic contrast, analyzed diffusion images  and a spectroscopy.

In order to achieve the best  image, high field magnetic resonances, 1.5 / 3 T, are required, thus achieving a higher resolution. We will inform you where your high quality. Imaging test has to be done.

FOCALYX® Dx is an early and accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer

Initial diagnosis without the need for a biopsy

The image supported by the Multi parametric Magnetic Resonance (MRI) allows today to increase the precision in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Our radiologists have extensive experience in the interpretation of the prostate NMR image. Together with the urology team, specialized in uro-oncology, we are involved in the research and development of this technology. We strongly believe in the validity of the prostate MRI performed before the biopsy, and its usefulness confirmed by multiple international studies.

Magnetic resonance imaging can prevent  the biopsy in up to 50% of the cases. This is a great advantage, since resonance is a much more comfortable procedure for the patient. In just 40 minutes we can obtain a reliable and accurate result that eliminates cancer or, otherwise, gives us as many clues as possible to identify the exact area in which it is located.

Active surveillance

The MRI is reported as negative (absence of injury) it is unlikely that the disease in the prostate gland is significant. In those cases of “non-significant” tumors,  Active Surveillance will be a treatment option. The MRI can be used to verify that there has not been significant growth of the tumor, reducing the number of biopsies in the follow-up of the disease in Active Surveillance.

Active Surveillance is a treatment plan that consists of the observation and careful monitoring of a patient’s condition without any treatment, unless the tests that are performed periodically show that there has been a worsening of the disease. Thanks to Active Surveillance, the  patient’s treatments, such as radiotherapy or surgery, which can bring about side effects such as problems in the urinary and sexual functions, can be avoided.

Where can I take the test?

Two aspects are fundamental to obtain a good magnetic resonance: the MRI machine and the radiologist. A high-field MRI equipment (T1.5 / 3) to be read by a radiologist with experience in reading prostate MRI are the ideal combination to achieve the best result in the diagnosis of imaging when suspecting prostate cancer.
